About Louella

Discover Louella Jewellery – The Story Behind My Jewellery

I’m a self-taught jewellery maker, based in the heart of the South West, with a strong connection to the natural beauty of my Cornish upbringing. The rugged coastlines of Cornwall and the untamed landscapes of Dartmoor have shaped my designs, infusing each piece with a deep appreciation for the world around me. My jewellery is a reflection of the organic beauty I encounter every day—whether it’s the glistening sea, the textures of the woods, or the unique treasures I find on my coastal walks.

Creativity runs through my heritage; I grew up surrounded by makers, storytellers, and a culture deeply rooted in the land and sea. This heritage inspires me to honour tradition while also creating something entirely my own—pieces that feel both timeless and contemporary.

My creative process always begins with the natural world. Sometimes it’s a gemstone that sparks an idea, other times it’s the curve of a shell, a shard of sea glass smoothed by the waves, or a fleeting detail noticed on a woodland walk. I sketch, shape, and experiment with textures until the piece begins to take on its own life. For me, jewellery-making is as much about intuition as it is about skill—the process feels like uncovering the design that was already waiting to be revealed.

In my work, I predominantly use sterling silver and gold, often incorporating copper and brass for warmth and contrast. One-of-a-kind gemstones are central to my designs, chosen for their unique beauty and dramatic impact. Each gemstone carries its own history and energy, and I see my role as giving it a setting where its story can shine.

Living in this inspiring environment, I often collect natural treasures from the land and sea—shells, sea glass, coral, and other curiosities from Cornwall and Dartmoor. These elements bring individuality to my pieces, creating jewellery that is not only visually striking but also deeply connected to nature. Each item I create reflects the wild places I hold dear, giving my customers the opportunity to wear something truly unique and meaningful.

Alongside my craft, I’m also a full-time mum to three young daughters. Balancing motherhood with my work as a jeweller keeps me grounded and inspired. My daughters remind me daily of the importance of wonder, play, and storytelling—all of which flow into the pieces I create.

Whether you’re looking for a bespoke statement piece or a unique keepsake, my jewellery is designed to offer something special—each piece made with love, care, and the natural beauty of the South West.
